I got a bit done today.
I got the airbox on and setup (just have to oil the filter first.)
I got the oil system and exhaust header on.
I was planning on putting a larger oil cooler (from a rancher 400 (it's double the size of the stock 400ex)) but that didn't work out well, due to mounting problems and the oil lines. I didn't feel like holding up progress for it, especially since my motor is stock and doesn't really need any extra cooling.

The steering stem is in, but I haven't put the lower nut on yet, just because of the way it's off the wheels. I set up the bars as well, but I can't put the start switch on because the the bars are too fat because of the paint (it's extra thick.)
So I think i'm gonna clean off the paint a bit there to try to make it work.
Also, i didn't put the master cylinder on yet... (clearly haha)

The first pic shows my pathetic attempt at polishing the throttle cover.
Last pic shows a mock-up of the rear wheel. I wanted to see how badass the black wheel with orange hub looked. It is in fact very badass!

The plan today is to get it started, and probably put the front suspension on.
I still have to clean up the front hubs and get the wheel bearings in those as well...

I did a bunch of work today!

I got the handlebar switch on and its looking good.
Chain on (damn master link is a pain in the ass!!)

I put the front shocks and a-arms on, tie-rods, spindles, and hubs.
I put the front wheel bearing in before obviously.
Just like the swingarm bearings, I had them in the freezer, and then tapped them in with the 2x4 and hammer, and finished seating them with a long threaded bolt, washers, and a nut and used my socket wrench and an impact wrench to pull the bearings into proper position. It works great!
Maybe I should make a youtube video of it sometime... hmmm

I'm thinking today (but probably tomorrow) I'll drain the rest of the oil from the case, refill it with new oil, get some fresh gas, and start it up!
It's been too long since i've heard it run!!

I love the way it looks! I couldn't be happier!! Well, I guess if the paint didn't chip at tight clearance areas (a-arm mounts, shock mounts, etc)

What do you think guys?

thanks man!

I was thinking about it today, I almost don't want it to be done.
I've had a ton of fun taking it apart and rebuilding it and when it's done
I'll be bored haha...
Well, at least I'll be able to ride haha
