those pic's do not show you the index marks..but..when you pull it all apart...you will see them on the shifting arm and such..and also on the shifting shaft..they all have to line up. before you go tearing it back apart...try going back and re-doing the clutch free play nut/bolt adjustment...lossen the outter nut..turn the center screw all the way counter clockwise..as far as it will turn ..once it stops..and gets tight ?..turn it back 1/4 inch..then tighten down the outter lock nut. if everything is installed right and lined up right ???..and you got the right oil in it ?..and your change clutch disk are not dead ????..then it should move when you put it in gear ????. now..one last question...did you by any chance inspect your centrifugal clutches one-way bearing ??...see if it was ok ??..lol. if it's bad ??????????..no matter what you do right now..won't solve your problem if your one-way clutch for the centrifugal clutch is bad !!..lol.

I dont think its the one way bearing because I had engine braking. No matter what I do as far as clutch adjustment there seems to be clutch slippage, when I tightened the adjustment scew all the way down and backed it out it helped a little but it slipped badly as in I couldnt get second gear to hardly do anything and first would slip when I pushed the throttle. I am going to pull the front cover off the motor and check out my centrifugal clutch, maybe the weights are shot? I checked the clutch plates when I rebuilt the engine and they seemed good no wear and were within spec but I did NOT pull the centrifugal clutch apart, and I think the problem it there. Hopefully I can do this with the plastics on.... Any thoughts?

Pulled the front cover and noticed right away that the clutch adjuster was screwed all the way out and the notch was not on the pin (pic #1) I am sure I did this when I was screwing it counterclockwise and it raised up off the pin, I adjusted it back down tight. Everything looks lined up correctly, kinda hard to see in the confined space. I can turn the centrifugal clutch one way real easily and the opposite way its a little tighter and turns the gears on the change cluctch. I do notice a little front to back play in the cent clutch on the shaft kinda like the nut isnt tightened all the way down, about a small 1/16". The only other thing I can see is there is a some gaps between the plates on the change clutch and I can push them apart and front to back, I dont think they are supposed to be tight unless under a load correct?

What would be causing the clutch slippage? Could it have been the adjusting plate being loose, kinda thought that was for adjusting the shifting only. Little help please

Well ok I might be stretching it a little... I put the cover back on and adjusted the clutch and I can still hand roll the rear tires while its up on stands when in 1st gear. I think something is up, I am going to take it off again, since Ive had so much practice, and maybe I can get my time down to 13 minutes...hahahaha....gonna pull the cent. clutch and check that one way bearing. is gonna be a bear to get in there to pull then try and stake the lock nut when I put it back. This is kinda like doing open heart surgery through a patients butthole.

when your spinning the rear tires ??..are you going forward ?..or backwards ?..the reason i ask..lol..is they will spin backwards while in gear..but they wont spin forward !!..they are not suppose to anyway !!..if they do ???..then your one-way bearing is bad on your centrifugal clutch !.
