Thats no project its a disaster!! A 300ex bought off craigslist that I didn't check out first and just let my buddy buy. The previous owner had just installed new tires, new chain and sprockets, rebuilt the top end. Seemed like a nice bike only problems were the valves made a ticking noise and needed to be adjusted and the chain was a little loose and needed adjustment and it wasn't going into reverse because of the cable slack. HAHAHA if only it were that easy.

We got it home adjusted the valves and the timing chain but it still ticked, and it ticked loud. We also noticed his "mechanic" who rebuilt it was a hack. He must have stock in RTV sealant cause it was everywhere. But we know everything in the top end is adjusted so we are comfortable riding the bike until we have more time to take it apart and figure out why its making noise.

Now on to the reverse, we adjusted the cable, no dice? Still don't understand whats wrong to be honest and I don't care.

The chain was next, well we would tighten the chain and in a min it would look really loose again. HMM The rear carrier was so destroyed that the wheels could literally move a foot, the quad looked like it had 4 wheel steering.

So we were going to go riding the next day and since the carrier was already shot we figured whats the worst that can happen? So we start the bike up at my house before we load it up and ride it around for a few min to make sure everything is ok and guess what? It makes a nasty pop and loses compression. hahaha One of the valves broke and welded itself into his piston, I'm amazed it didn't lock up.

So now the bike has a brand new engine, rear carrier, and axle. $1200 for the bike and $1500 for parts, should be finished today.

A big thanks to GDH Racing on ebay for their fast shipping and quality parts.

well we did everything right and fixed everything so I can confidently say that he has a really nice bike on his hands now. The frame looked great and the suspension checked out. Pretty much everything else is new.

You will not like 10psi. It will make for louse turning and it will also beat you to death. 4 to 6 should be fine.
