Howdy....new guy here.

Been reading the archives and can't reallt find an answer.

Had a 2004 Rincon given to me and it starts and iles fine. Once you try to rev it, it sputters and dies. To me it looks like a carb rebuild but, others tell me about the oil o-ring seals that need replaced.

It starts and idles fine but once in gear it has no throttle power. In Nutrual I can't even rev the engine before it sputters and dies.

Thanks

welcome to the forums. I don't know much about that model ?, but from what your saying here ?, I would say it's time to rebuild the carb, drain the gas tank, flush, fresh fuel, then see what ya got ?. please keep us posted !. oh, you did not give us the full model make ?, soo..i just looked to see if yours had a carb ?, or its fuel injected ?. if carb ?, then yeah, carb rebuild. if fuel injected ? ( can't recall when Honda started fuel injection ? ), then it could be a dirty fuel injector ?.

It's fuel related. If it was a o ring problem on the oil pump, then it would just rev while in gear and wouldn't move since the rincons run off oil pressure.

The rincons carbs are tricky unlike other models. Most you can rebuild and be like new but buddies of mine rincons never were, he always had trouble with them. He sucked it up and bought a new oem carb.. about $200 on partzilla. Comes with oem jets and factory settings. Bolt on and go.

It's up to you if you want to rebuild yours or go new. Did you try pulling the choke out while trying to rev it?

Might want to check how much your cam chain tensioner has to extend to tighten the chain, might just be a carb but it's not to hard to check the preload in case the chain has stretched. My son bought one and we should of checked before buying. Within the first week we were doing a chain. How many miles/ hours on this machine, how long have you had the machine did the problem just start? Think the orings were a 2003 issue but this would reduce oil pressure if they were bad compression check wouldn't hurt if you have a guage. I am just learning about Rincons but am happy so far with the machine we purchased...even with the work we needed to do.

My sister bought it new. It started acting like this about 3 years ago. she just parked it. She gave it to me about a week ago.

2700 miles on the clock.

I have the gauge for compression check. Will get that checked out in a couple of days.

Thanks for the suggestions.
