400ex New exhaust review

Well guys just thought I'd let you all know I got my Lexx slip on installed today along with my Twin-air air filter. I was afraid I was going to need to rejet after switching from a WhiteBrothers E series and K&N filter to the Lexx and Twin-air but surprisingly I didn't. Before I had a somewhat bad popping when down shifting to slow down. I now have no popping what so ever. But with all of that said I'll tell you guys what I think about the Lexx. I really like it. It is quite a bit quieter then the WhiteBrothers but overall in my opinion it has a better sound. It's somewhat deeper and throatier then the WhiteBrothers. I know there is somethings you can take out of it to make it louder. (Not exactly sure what it is) I havent yet removed my end cap to see. But for now it sounds good, but I'm sure in the future I'm going to get mad because my friends 450s are going to sound way meaner and I'll end up taking out something to make it louder as long as its not hurting my motor in any way. As for the Twin-air I feel much more comfortable riding in dusty areas then I did with the K&N. I didn't really notice much of a performance increase with it but I was already pretty happy with it. But that's about all I have to say. Any questions or comments feel free to let me know.

That's surprising. I thought White Bros was one of the best exhausts that you could get. Had no idea that a Lexx would flow better.

While we're on the topic of slip-ons, what results from not changing the packing? I've had my Pro Circuit T-4 slip-on for two years, don't know how long it had been on there, when I bought the quad. I've never changed the packing. Is there a performance drop if you don't re-pack, or does it just effect the sound?

WhiteBrothers has the best sound. Curtis Sparks has the best performance. I would go to your local Honda dealer and buy packing and just replace it. It will make it sound much better. It has some effect on the performance but not very much.

I love the way my E2 sounds without the arrestor. The LTE dual exhaust has a great sound but is quite pricey

Actually the E series is like one of the best pipes for a 400, and the k&n has more airflow. Popping is because of a lean condition and there's room to up main jet sizes increasing power. When you changed the exhaust and airfilter into more restricting(quieter, foam filter) it richened it up removing the decel popping. If put your old pipe and filter then increase the jet a size or so you will probably get a little more power. Also if your worried about the k&n in dusty conditions I run an outerwears pre-filter. Does a great job too.

Thanks, but it sounds ok to me. If it's not going to help it run better, I"ll just leave it alone.

Actually the popping was from a major exhaust leak in the silencer lol. But yeah outerwears do work great from what I hear.
