Best Winch?

I have a 2011 2wd 420 Rancher and was wondering which winch would fit and work the best for it.

Mason, In my opinion, You can't beat the Superwinch Terra 25. It's completely sealed, operates quietly, smoothly, draws less current than most any other 2500 lb winch, comes with a remote control, and can be obtained for around $175 on You can purchase it with wire rope or synthetic rope. Check out the Superwinch web site and you'll be very impressed. No matter what winch you get, you will also need to get a winch mounting plate (also available from The Superwinch Terra 25 is a great winch at a fabulous value. There are some other very good winches, but you end up paying more and getting the same (as a Superwinch) or less than what you get with the Superwinch. It also fits nicely in a Rancher.

Mason, also take a look at this thread: New Member / First ATV!! and a winch question :)

I highly recommend a viper winch for the price. They are completely waterproof and very rugged. A lot of guys might recommend you a warn but they've let us down when the vipers and smittybilts pulled through. Both a very strong pulling winch. We seem to grenade warns every time we go out with a new guy.

Whatever is currently in one piece... 400 prairie with stuff, 300 fourtrax, 500 sportsman, yz 125...

I'm a strong supporter of the Viper winches from Motoalliance.
I'll never buy another Warn.

You can get the 3000lb Viper Max,with synthetic rope, and a mounting plate... for $270 shipped directly from .
The 2500lb will cost you $255 for the same setup.
