Operation Bush Salvage

Found a Honda 500 out in the bush in the middle of nowhere in surprisingly good condition. Wheels/rims, winch and airfilter? were gone. What is worth grabbing from that quad

Figure the seat which is decent condition, the gas cap, and if I can get it off the aluminum skid plate.

The rollers were the winch wire go through are still there, the center console/handlebars & controls for the speed etc is still in perfect condition. Some of the red plastic outer shell is still decent.

Take whatever you can carry. Big ticket items would be things like the diffs, engine, axles etc. Don't take anything with the VIN stamped on it lol, engine S/N doesn't matter though....

I would not touch that bike with a 39 and a half foot pole. It's as hot as a firecracker.

...what if : , you pop a few parts off that bike and while on the way out with parts strapped all over your bike , you meet up with the owner that had been looking for it since it was stolen , or was going back to retrieve it after it broke down and he left it , or the local sheriff -----think of it this way , what if it were your bike , what you should have done , was take a few pics , get the vin # and report it to the local authorities ----- personally I would consider you a theft

I agree I wouldn';t take anything, its either stolen or an insurance claimed deal, which make anything you take, making you into a crook and you could get arrested for stealing as well, thats what your doing, as if its NOT your's, and you take something, ?? it means what??

like others said, if your driving out and someone see's you, you could end up having to justify WHY your taking parts off it< and or, be accused of being the person that stole the whole atv and just now returning for more parts off it
I too would report it
think of it this way, IF That was YOUR atv that was stolen or being robbed of parts, HOW would you feel??
would you want folks just picking it clean, or would you want some one to report in and help you get a closure to what happened to it and MAYBE lead officials to finding WHO took it??

two wrongs never make a right!
