Is this '86 Honda Magna 700 a good deal?

86 Honda Magna 700

I'm wanting to jump into the motorcycle world this summer. Right now is the time to buy and I've done a little scanning. I like the looks of the Kawasaki Vulcan 750s but this Magna is the cheapest decent looking bike I've found so far. Is his asking price too high, spot on, or is this a good deal that I should jump on? This will be my first motorcycle so it doesn't have to have all the bells and whistles or be in showroom condition. Just something to learn on and start another addiction. . .

It looks very good in the pic, and the mileage is low for that old of a machine. These are a fast machine, and have allot more get up and go than the Vulcan your thinking about also being a V-4 engine.
The toughest part about the older bikes is finding parts if they are discontinued, and that can be the worst part of owning an older machine, but it can still be done.

It's too bad its in Mansfield WV I believe, because if it was Mansfield PA where I live,,,,I would be taking a look at it tomorrow...lmao! Your right that is a good price for that, and I noticed the decals also, but who knows. Yeah, I am getting a little bit older,,,eyesight not the same, reflexes a little slower,,,oh well,,,such is life. I had those fire breathing superbikes in my youth that did those crazy 170+ speeds, but not anymore, but that bike would be just about right for me.lol!

Who knows I just might go and look for one of those classic bikes to ride this year...A fella here in town made me a helluva nice offer for my DR a couple of weeks ago as he just finished paying off his truck. He offered me $4300 for it, and it books for 3K, but I've got almost 2K in upgrades into it,,,it's tempting.lol.
I'd rather keep the DR, and just buy one like that outright for that kind of price, and slowly fix it back up to new again....I'll be ready to sell that boat here in just a few weeks for some extra cash too,,,if the kid will let me,,lol!
I'm done with the sportbikes though,,my old GPZ 1100, or Ninja 1100 they were called is nothing that I want anymore...I had 4 into 1 pipes on it, and modded carbs and intakes, and that damn thing was scary fast for its time...Something like that Magna with around 80hp would be just about right to make it entertaining, but not stupid fast,,lmao!
